Online information on the state of the air in your region
If you ever feel that you are not feeling well, have breathing problems or headache, it may be due to the poor air state in your city.. The European Environment Agency (EEA) has recently launched a new online air monitoring platform, which covers almost the entire territory of Europe with current information and predictions of pollution levels in the coming hours.
There you will find up-to-date information on the five main variables that have a negative impact on air quality and thus on human health. You can monitor the suspended particulate matter (PM 2,5 and PM10), ground ozone (O3), nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and sulfur dioxide levels (SO2). Just find one of 2000 cities using the browser to zoom the map to a selected region, and you can select from several places in your area, showing the current air state for the past three hours using the coloured symbol.. The colour corresponds to the state of the quantity with the worst measured index. You can compare the colour scale with the displayed legend.
According to the Executive Director of the EEA Hans Bruyninckx “the new Air Quality Index in Europe gives citizens easy access to information on air quality that can directly affect their health. This information is publicly available and it provides an important basis for the discussion and decision-making that is needed to protect human health, especially in cities.“
On the EEA website, you can also find information on air pollution in the Czech Republic in 2019, which summarizes the emissions of individual substances and their impacts on human health and population.
